I am up to my eyeballs putting the final touches to the first draft of my book, Focus Like a Laser Beam. I have a chapter that deals with relaxation and stress management (yes, it ties into focus!). As research for the chapter, I found this great new program called, Stretch Break.
I am not an affiliate or anything, so this is just me talking. Stretch Break is a computer program that reminds you to stretch while sitting at your computer.
Ah, very nice, you say. Well that's not all. It has computer generated people that guide you in doing the stretches. There are 36 stretches in all. You can let the computer pick them for you or you can select stretches if you have preferences or want to work on certain muscle groups.
You can determine the frequency of the reminders, too. I have mine set for every 60 minutes. Each stretch break is very short, just a minute or two. You can determine the number of stretches you do each break.
This is a very cool product and I encourage you to check it out. Companies like Boeing, 3M, and Harvard use it. You can download a full preview version for 10 days (PC or MAC) - free. A single user license is $44. I downloaded the program to my MAC quickly and without any drama (oops, I forgot, drama really only occurs with Windows anyways).
Reduce stress and reduce injuries related to computing. What's not to love!
Psst! For those of you who have employees who work at a computer screen all day - you need to get this for your people.

Seriously cool. It strikes me that it's simple enough that I wouldn't be at all surprised to see free knock-offs in the near future; I hope the originators of this great idea make a bundle before that happens.
I recall Adam Carolla of all people saying, "That's on piece of advice that's always right--do more stretching. Everybody could stand to do more stretching. Not really anybody who's doing too much of that."

Yeah, you might be right, but at this low price, I would also think it is not worth the effort to clone. Either way, I think it is a win-win if people are stretching more!

For a good description of a stress management routine based on combining conventional Western medicine, alternative medicine, and spirituality practice, check out the excerpt at AuthorViews from "A Life in Balance: Nourishing the Four Roots of True Happiness," by Dr. Kathleen A. Hall -- a student of Dr. Dean Ornish (Preventive Medicine Research Institute) and Dr. Herbert Benson (Harvard University's Mind-Body Institute). The piece is a nice take on the latest in integrative medicine from someone who has paid her dues and speaks the truth.

There are many people which have stress related illness. Stress reduce the resistance and disturb sleep. Stress management tool helps to reduced the stress. It’s price is very reasonable and there's no alternate that could reduce stress at this cost.
