I have a pal who is a total control freak. Do any of you have a book that you would recommend to the particularly hard headed? Like a two-by-four in paper form?
Thanks!

Lisa,
I know I've said this before but it's a centuries old truth.
"You can't reason a person out of a position they didn't reason themselves into."
Being a control freak is an emotional, irrational response to a lot of issues that started in childhood. No book can help them. They need a trained psychologist with experience in their specific condition. It may be incurable - only manageable like diabetes or high blood pressure. I know one psychologist (a woman in the upper midwest) who has that kind of experience. I quote her in my book.

Laurence:
While I agree that it might not be able to be cured, I have seen people make great progress using a variety of methods. I think that once a control freak always a control freak, but that we can learn to make better choices about how we interact with others. And there are some books, yours included that can deliver messages in such a way that even the hardest heads might listen (this is what I mean by two-by-four).
