Great article. I'm forwarding it to everyone who manages younger employees.

I thought this was a very interesting article, however it's much more Gen Y centric. As an Xer, I'm not sure a lot of this applies to me. I've found that Xers want little to no nonsense in their work lives - let's get stuff done in a clear and effective way without a lot of meetings, speeches, etc. We're also full of the "I can do it all better myself" control issues. I do think that Gen Y is looking for a lot of reinforcement, more than they'll ever get in the workplace. Showing up on time doesn't derserve praise but I've found that many of the Gen Y employees around me are looking for just that.

Excellent article. Would it be too much to assume that you'd recommend the whole book?

This article seems like a description of a lot of people with a completely different background then the reader.

Understanding collegues or employees can be the hardest thing you'll ever do. But generally its worth it.
