This looks like an interesting collective book, and I know a lot of the smart people involved so I would say it's a safe bet to buy this. My copy is on the way... Cool design, too.
Dwayne offers a meaty review of the Art of Managing. I am thankful to people like Dwayne because I am a bit behind in my business book reading. The books I am reading tend to be for school (just two more semesters) - essays and fiction. Here is a snippet of Dwayne's review that's interesting:
Finally, she rounds it out with a great set of tools to assess the effectiveness and alignment of an organization, and discusses methods to address any weaknesses or mis-alignment you may discover.
Here's a great post from David Zinger, writing on the up-for-grabs-Slacker-Manager blog, called: Weave retirement into your work even if you are in your 20s. Great idea. Hey David, how about a post called - What to do if you are in your 40s and did not do enough to prepare for retirement! That's be me... I love my flashy Sapphire martinis and BMW motorcycles way too much (not at the same time, of course).
Here's another post on the Slacker Manager, this time from my pal Craig Huggart called, Email - Stop the Insanity. I read all posts that combine the words "email" and "insanity."
I love this short post from buddy Phil Gerbyshak called, The Two Wolves: A Cherokee Tale. It's simple and elegant and powerful.

Thank you for the publicity, Lisa. I think we managed to sell more than 500 books in the first week. That means that Variety is getting a lot of attention and much needed (and I'm sure appreciated) funds.

Hey, you wrote Two Weeks to a Breakthrough? Great!
Thanks for recommending Dwayne's blog! I'm always looking for great books to read, and I'm sure his book reviews will keep me hip-deep in print--giving me plenty of material for my Booksnake blog. =)
Thanks also for posting the link to David Zinger's blog post. I'm in my 23, and by his definition, totally retired. =)
I am _definitely_ adding your blog to my feed reader. Looking forward to more great reads!

Lisa,
I am now 52 and did not do enough for retirement but the beauty of RETIRE NOW is that I have been retired for almost 30 years and I will also be working until at least 70. Now if I could just get a pension and a senior's discount life would be really good. Keep sipping and vrroommming.
David

Sacha - thanks and welcome. Glad you like the posts.
David - So what you are saying is that I have no excuse, that retire now is a way to focus, choose, and enjoy the here and now. I'll try.....

The Age of Conversation really WAS an interesting read. I was dubious at first that it would feel "thrown together" but it absolutely did not.
It really is a worthwhile read for a worthwhile cause.
