Here's a post about the link between telecommuting and loyalty.
Makes sense to me. Intrinsic motivation (loyalty cannot be extrinsically manufactured for any staying power) comes from a feeling of care and connection. The more flexible we are as managers and employers, the more work will feel like a partnership.
We can't always be flexible, but be flexible where and when you can.

Telecommuting is great - I agree that the link between it and loyalty make sense. I also like your mention of the importance of intrinsic motivation in building loyalty. I have some more thoughts on motivation: http://management.curiouscatblog.net/2006/04/20/stop-demotivating-employees/
